DEFINITION
Minister of Hospitality: "These members of the parish are official greeter who welcomes all who enter the house of the Lord. Their sincerity helps people to feel at home and enables people to know one another better." (St. James the Less Catholic Church, September 1994, October 1998, Guide Book & Directory)
GOALS
- Welcome parishioner to the liturgies.
- Involve both new and current parishioner in the greeter program.
- Enhance the sense of Community in the parish while strengthening the social and spiritual health of the individual parishioner and the greeter.
OBJECTIVES
- Greeters serve at the Mass of their choice.
- Greeters serve at least once a month.
- Teams of two or three greeters are assigned to each weekend Mass and some special liturgies.
- Greeters are expected at the church at least 30 Minutes before assigned Mass.
- Greeters wear a nametag that is available in the sacristy.
- Greeters are expected to initial the greeter schedule that is located with nametag in the sacristy.
- Greeters are stationed at the East (rectory) and West (school) entrances to the church.
- Greeter teams should consist of new and current parishioners, when possible.
- Families are welcomed as greeters.
- Coordinator of the Hospitality Ministry recruits and trains greeters.
- A bimonthly Greeter Schedule is mailed to individual greeters
